Homemade Clutch stop
Well, it's been a couple months since i've seen someone post about this, and I know this is an absolutely great mod. and super cheap, and easy to do. Takes all of 20 minutes. I recommend this for anyone with a manual transmission. Costs all of a few bucks. It will make you shift faster. No wasted pedal movement, saves you time in shifting. Now, I didn't invent this, I'm just re posting it, and unfortunately, I don't remember the original author. so all credit goes to them, I'm just riposting it.
Ok, here it is:
Go to Lowe's or Home Depot, buy
- (1) 10mm x 40mm bolt (hex head)
- (1) 10mm washer
- (2) 10mm nuts
- (1) Rubber chair end boot, like on the bottom of crutches, but smaller. it should be able to fit the head of the hex bolt snuggly. (could be sold in packs of 4)
Procedure:
- 1. take out the old plastic clutch stop with a screwdriver
- 2. thread both nuts onto the bolt, then put on the washer
- 3. thread the bolt into the old clutch stop hole
- 4. put the rubber boot over the top on the hex head
- 5. adjust the distance and then test it, make sure you can disengage the clutch fully
- 6. tighten down the nuts
After you get it adjusted, you will love how much travel is gone from depressing the clutch and engagement. You may have to adjust several times to your comfort level. Enjoy, and drive!!!
