BMW e30 models came equipped with variety of four and six cylinders motors - namely:
M10 engine - in early four cylinder models such as 318.
M20 engine - has six cylinders and came in two main different versions - M20B25 found in e30 325i and 325is, and M20B27 found in e30 325 and 325e or 'eta'. There was also M20B27 'super eta' made only in 1988.
M42 engine - is a dual overhead cam engine found in later versions of four cylinder models such as e30 318i, 318is, 318 iC.
